74 x 35 inch, screen-print, organza, plywood, and hanji
"Byeongpung" in Korean translates to "folding screens."
Screens constitute Spiritually black organza stretched between stained wood frames. Intricate screen-prints that mimic flowers in Korean peony paintings sit delicately on the fabric, adding multiple layers of ghostliness.
The work ties to Korean tradition in holding ancestral rituals on annual anniversaries to hope for familial happiness and longevity.
" I wanted this project to evoke and emotions of gratitude and appreciation of tradition present across multiple generations. the screens propose a novel and experimental but nostalgic form for the contemporary audience. "
